What is GLAM?

The term GLAM is an acronym for Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums. Professionals in the industry use this set of letters as an umbrella term for the cultural institution industry. GLAM is also the name of our club, a student-led organization that seeks to provide opportunities for undergrads who want to learn more about prospective careers in cultural institutions and network with professionals in the industry. Every fall-winter term, we plan guided tours of Toronto’s cultural spaces, and plan various social events for students to meet others with similar interests and ambitions.

  • GLAM began as a mission to provide equal access to gain experience for all students who want to work in cultural institutions.

  • We were created as a space where all students can gain experience in various aspects of exhibition production and cultural institution management, allowing UofT students to build their network.

  • We want to give all UofT students equal opportunity to develop and expand their experiences in cultural institutions, free of bias and discrimination.
